2019 Challenge of Champions Weekend Recap

The North York Hockey League ended the 2018/19 season as it does every year, with the Challenge of Champions All Star weekend.

For those who don’t know, the Challenge of Champions is a weekend-long exhibition event held by the NYHL after all of it’s playoffs have finished. The playoff champions of their respective tiers play in an exhibition game against an all star team comprised of the best players of that tier up. The participating age groups range from Tyke to Bantam.

The 2018/19 Challenge of Champions consisted of 36 games over two days beginning at 8 AM and ending at 9 PM at Downsview Arena. After each game, the champions were awarded trophies for winning their playoffs and the all stars were given commemorative t-shirts for being selected to participate.

The weekend ended with the All Stars defeating the Champions with a record of 23-9-4. The George Bell Titans had the most “champion” teams participate with a total of 7. Updates on results and events were made on our social media sites throughout the weekend.

We would like to thank all of our clubs, players, volunteers, parents and sponsors for making this Challenge of Champions one to remember! From all of us at the North York Hockey League, we wish you a safe and exciting summer! See you all next year.
